Kitty Saga - part 4

Operation kitty catch started at 8:30 am.. Not by me... I was still sleeping.

The other animal rescue worker set out the live traps.

I came at 10am.

10:30 we caught one!!

Looks a lot like Mina!

Kittens are big enough to set off the live traps.

3 live traps set.

I shall try this again

Here kitty kitty!!.....

Took kitten home and put it with Mina.

..............

1 pm caught another kitten!

1:15... Finally figured out how to transfer terrified kitten from live trap to carrier in a car...

Other person had a van.. Vans have space.. Cars are not built for events such as this.

Go go gadget arms would have been helpful as well.

Took this one back to my place and returned.

Maybe the extra long kitttttyyyy will speed things up.

Not a chance...

3:30pm...momma is back and she is calling her kittens.

I feel bad.

Momma get in the live trap!

She is ignoring the live traps.

Now is not the time to be smart!

4:30pm. Calling it a day.

Momma kitty ignored the traps and seems to have vamoosed for the night.

Tomorrow I shall try again.

Kitty Saga - part 3

We received information on the momma and babies!

They are taking shelter in one of the neighbours back yards.

I knew it!

I should always trust my kitty judgment.

Of course now I am worried that going into the back yard will spook her and she will relocate again.

I decided I needed to check out the location...what was it like - did it look like they were hanging around there..
Oh...and if they were actually there.

What I expected ...

What I hoped for...

What I got...

They didn't notice me.
I saw Momma sharing an empty sardine can with one of the tabby kittens.
I could not see them all without them noticing me.

One black kitten saw me as I was leaving - it tried to give away my position.
Clearly it has cried wold to many times because Momma did not respond.

Great news! They are there!

I did not have the time or the items needed to catch any of them at that moment.
I needed to come back later with help.

Came back around 4pm - of course they are not there!

I believe the Momma moves them through out the day - since I was there early in the morning, I suspect she will be back at night and this is her main location..
Well.. I am hoping this is her main location.

We left the live traps there - with the backs off - not set
We will set them in the morning and take turns watching for them.

Kitty Saga - part 2...

Temporary Kitty Hilton

It is actually rather roomy and warm

I betcha a live feed web cam would be helpful.

Crap.

Something ate the food last night.

Raccoons tend to toss the place after- no sign of any disturbance

Dry is gone as well.

What ever it was - it was hungry.

I hope it was them.

I hope they stayed the night.

Our road plan is fuzzy at best.

Back at the location - it's later in the afternoon.

Something ate all of the wet food!

Wildlife is not really known for seeking out food in the daylight .. This is not a closed in area - it's by a small parking lot.

I believe it's Minas family.

I am on kitty surveillance again.

What did people do before iphones?

How would they be able to play Monster Busters?

I wish I had the power to see through fences - actually being able to talk to cats would fix all of this.

It would be so much simpler to bribe then.

Drats! There was a adult male Tabby eating the food tonight.

I was still right thought...it was probably the daddy kitty.

Lets see what happens tomorrow....

I wonder if momma cat is watching me. Or Daddy kitty.

Or the people in the building behind me.

I have seen a squirrel .. It almost fell off the fence .

That is it.

It was a pain when the last batch of kitties from this area were located under a patio that was only accessible to cats.. But at least I knew where they where! I could bribe them then catch them as they came out.

Now. ... Now I don't have a proper bribing location.

No kitties today.
We will have to change our plans...

So... time to create a better plan.

For now..

Not much new on the meow front.

Have not seen momma and babies for days.

I still have not seen the male tabby 'Daddy' but he is being fed very well by us.

We will be live trapping soon.

We sent out letters in the area to ask people to keep their cats inside - we don't want to trap them.

I worry about the little ones in regards to the trap.

I hope to think of something to raise the trap enough that the kittens will not attempt to go in. They may be able to set off the trap, but I don't know if it's safe to allow them to try.

Something makes me feel like they are still around. Wish I would see them.

Given the proper information, you can confidently choose foods for your pets that are properly preserved, safe, and provide the guaranteed nutrient content and quality throughout their shelf life.

That's right folks.
They do not say that theirs is the best food.. or even second best...for once they may have did the best thing..

Kitty Saga - part 1

It snowed today. None stayed on the ground.
Mina's family is out there..I saw them today.

We set up a large carrier with hay - food and water

I thought I saw 2 black kittens and 2 more stripey kittens
But it may have only been 1 black kitten.
I swear they do it on purpose - hide so I do not know for sure how many there are.

The momma was with them. She is black and looks very frantic and scared.
I was looking at them through a fence - I wanted to see them but not let them know I was there.
Then the momma got spooked - my bad.
I need to work on my stealth ninja skills.

It was so cute watching the little ones running behind momma - they are just little meows.

They ran out to the front of the house - I drove around to see where they went.

I watched momma and her babies trying to find a place that was warm and safe. They stayed along the front of the houses.
Smart momma.

I went over to see if they would book away from me... they let me get very close but were scared and scurried under the bushes and I did not want to frighten them into danger.

I sat in my car and watched the momma call her babies - there were only 3 this time.. I was wrong on my count or there is a rogue kitten that does not follow orders.

We need the family to find there way to a location that we set up in a safe area.

Step 2 can only happen if they accomplish that - which we shall call step 1 - locate shelter.

Step 2 would be catching the kittens.
We can live trap the momma - but I do not think the kittens weigh enough to set off the trap.

Can't trap the momma before getting the kittens.

How do we catch the kittens?
Corner them and scruff them - put them into a carrier.. try not to get bit.
Probably get gnawed on a little and scratched. It's okay, they are scared and catching them gives them a chance at a better life.

I hate the thought of them out there in the damp cold.
Sure they are animals and animals have survived outside for many many years.
I don't care - they do not have to.
They should be warm, safe, full, and happy.
