Kitty saga relocated

Starting to feel as if finding and live trapping this momma and kittens is not going to happen...but it's snowing today and the idea of shivering kittens makes me determined to figure out how to better our chances.

The other rescue worker had a feeling that the Momma was at this other location - I had a feeling she was at the current location.. problem was.. we were both right.
Well that was one of the problems.

It seems as though this Momma split up her litter of kittens. She had two locations...smart Momma..
We were concentrating on the one area because people had seen them there.
We had seen them there.
We caught the others there.

Since the other location was a bit of a distance away, we worked on this area.

In regards to this other area...

.. We sent out flyers... Called this place and talked to some of its workers... but
We forgot to place a female in the building that actually communicate with the rest of the workers...

We went there today to take a look around..
We spoke with a few people.
..............

' yeah we saw her, she is here all the time'

'Saw the kittens today'

'They usually hang out over here'

'This is where I have fed them'

Males are very useful creatures.. Unless you actually want them to communicate about cats.

Good news is they are there!

Momma and 2 kittens!

We are very lucky these guys are kind to animals.

I am thankful for that.

Even Momma kitty feels safe.

But..

They must be caught.

Momma needs to be spayed and they all need to be warm, full and hopefully happy!

Kitty saga that has turned into a quest - part 8

Alright smarty pants.

I put the live trap in the feeding station.

It's very cozy in there.

I am spending less time at the location - since I have the live trap in the carrier - anything that goes in there will have food, be warm, and be safe from anything that would want to bother it.

Nothing...

More nothing....

7pm

Something is in the trap!!

Why didn't I take an actual picture?

I was busy trying to find someone else to remove Mr Possum/Opossum from the live trap.

It looked like this..

I think its name will be Ferrell ...Like Will Ferrell.. it sounds like Feral but isn't ..cuz I am clever...

They look like Ferrets that have had too many nose jobs.

It was cute..

Not kitten cute..

More like furry swamp rat cute.

Ferrell was returned to the forest from where he came from..not relocated...

What did I learn from this?

7pm is my cut off time for live trapping in this location.

I also think Momma Cat is laughing at my inability to catch her.

Kitty Epic Saga- part 7

In days it has not been that long, under 2 weeks.

In hours?

I stopped counting.

Started at 9am today.

Left out a small amount of food in the open traps last night to see if they would at least enter the cages.

Something ate the food.

But it could have been this guy

I put a piece of board in the dumpster so he could climb out..he was gone in the morning so it could have been him.

Yes I was calling him Rocky Raccoon.

Those little bandits are so cute. He looked sweet.. But looks are deceiving ..

Remember this whole thing started with Mina and she bit me.

She still has not apologized.

Cats never do.

......

It's 12:30pm. I have not seen anything.. Except birds and squirrels... a butterfly, and a few lady bugs.

Must leave for a bit..

The traps are still set.

I am never gone long.

I know people leave them for hours at a time.. I never leave them for longer than 90 min if the weather is nice.

If the weather is bad the traps are covered in a blanket- but I still don't leave for long.

Dogs... Always happy to see you.

I know exactly where she is...

She generally listens.

Except when you ask her to stop wanting to kill the mail carriers... So stereotypical.

Daddy kitty - Merlin, is getting neutered today.

He will be relocated to a farm that we deal with.

If he was adoptable we would have found him a family.

He is feral and we do not have the space or availability to try and work with him.

The last few Momma kitties have been wild as well.

Whiskey looked at me like I was a serial killer

Whiskey was actually found in the same location as the litter I am trying to catch now!

So technically she started it!!

I would like to say there have been some advancements.

Nope.

Not a meow in sight.

Called it a night at 6:30pm.

Night time trapping has a higher chance in resulting in wildlife.

Kitty Saga - part 6

Last night proved to be useless.

I did not post last nights till tonight because I has no good news to share.

Today is a new day... New plan.

9:30am I saw the daddy kitty I believe.

Set up traps closer to the bush line where he was.

One also by the fence.

Now we wait...

Oh look I see Momma behind the fence...

There goes Momma away from the live trap.

Sounds like Daddy kitty caught the Bunny he was stalking :(.

I know it's the circle of life... It still sucks.

Nothing nothing and more nothing.

Yet I know the little punks are around!

I have camouflaged the traps...

I am well aware I will not win any awards for my masking abilities ...

The hay we had been using in the first feeding area - so maybe it will freak them out less than the blankets.
They are covered at different amounts... maybe if one does not meet their fancy.. another will?

Changed the bait from sardines to cat food and now chicken with catnip...

At least when I go home I can watch the three kittens playing.

They are very cute.

Long day.. Nothing happening.

I took a walk through the forest.

Squirrels are acting rather squirrely.

Then again I may be as well.

Live Traps are set.

Today it's just me.

Wish Sebby was a tracker.

Wish all you like.. My fur butt ain't going out in the cold!

Besides... I am not a dog!

Someone did not have much sleep last night.

I have Coffee and French Toast Sticks. I'm good to go.

Yum. Bring us back some syrup!

It came with hash browns.

The heart changed its mind.

I took a pole- we vote hash browns.

Now.

Not now, I am trying to catch some cats.

Like we need more cats?

You promised Purrcy was leaving. When!?

I took another pole.

We want treats as well.

And more sardines.

I will see what I can do.

Getting back to the kitty saga... As you can tell it gets kind of boring just sitting around listening for the live trap to trigger.

There is no sound or sight of the meows.

Maybe they are still sleeping.

10:30... Still hoping they are sleeping in on a Sunday...

Replaced cat food with sardines.

Note to self - bring hand sanitizer

11:30am saw this guy

Asked it nicely to leave.

Last thing a little kitten needs around is a Hawk ...

They are stunning creatures... They just need to stay away from these babies!!!

I do not want any of these babies in danger because they were lured out to the live traps and a Hawk saw them.

....

I wanted to stop thinking about the Hawk...my mind replaced that with a song.

I do not listen to pop crap music. It drives me a bit bonkers.

The pet food store I am constantly at has their radio set to annoying.

This must stop.

Kitties you need to get in the live traps!!! GET IN NOW!

... I can't add animations from my iphone but tonight I will add one of something smashing their head against a wall.

So around 1pm I started playing kitten meowing sounds from you tube.

Momma showed up.

Meowing for her babies. I feel like a bag of crap because she can't find them.

She avoids the traps.

Its 1:30 and I just tried the sounds again.

Its making me feel sick.. Not only because I am tricking her.. But I don't know where the other kitten is? There is for sure 1 more.

Oh good.. Its raining.

Nope that's sleet.

That was short.
Stupid weather.

3:00pm.. Have not seen or heard anything since 1:15.
